Jona Bechtolt, the wizard behind the beats of Portland duo, The Blow, is set to release his third solo album I Believe in You. Your Magic is Real (out May 8 via the Marriage imprint) under his one-man act, Yacht. The album’s opener, “So Post All ‘Em,” is a trip down the rabbit hole in Alice’s Wonderland, a chaotic but serene collection of everything from hollow, cool drum beats to high-pitched Alvin & the Chipmunks-like chants. The lyrics may be lean, (“I couldn’t say no / But I learned how / To say no”), but the diverse assortment of scattered sounds and beats creates an aural buffet to sustain the three-minute medley.
