Xtina to Release Concept Album

Having tackled Thai porn, metamorphoses, genies, and the Moulin Rouge, Christina Aguilera will boldly go to yet another place where few pop stars have gone before: She's releasing a concept album.

The reformed dirrrty pop singer will release her third studio album, Back to Basics, a tribute to her musical icons, on August 15. The release goes for a vintage feel with inspiration coming from jazz, soul, and blues from the 1920s-'40s. And of course there'll be that extra "edge," care of Linda Perry.

"This is a concept album that follows a bold, set vision," Aguilera said in a statement. "The touchstones are Billie Holiday, Otis Redding, Etta James and Ella Fitzgerald… what I used to call my 'fun music' when I was a little girl."

The first single, "Ain't No Other Man," will get introduced to the world on June 8 at the MTV Movie Awards.
