Punk Legends X to Play First Four Albums in Full

x play first four albums los angeles performance

Los Angeles punk icon Exene Cervenka sold a bunch of her stuff earlier this year, but it seems she held onto at least a guitar or two — X will be returning this summer for a series of shows celebrating the early part of their career.

Alongside bassist/vocalist John Doe, guitarist Billy Zoom, and drummer D.J. Bonebrake, Cervenka will take the stage at Hollywood’s Roxy Theatre on July 10-13 in order to perform each of the band’s first four albums. They’ll start on July 10 with Los Angeles, their 1980 debut. July 11 will highlight 1981’s unhinged Wild Gift. And they’ll run through Under the Big Black Sun and More Fun in the New World on July 12 and 13, respectively.

This will be the second time that X has performed Los Angeles in full at the Roxy (they did so in 2012 with the aid of the late Ray Manzarek), but it’s the first time that they’ve celebrated their career so comprehensively. Tickets for all of the shows go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. PDT. Surprise guests are promised.
