Wilco Debut New Song on 'Colbert Report'

William Goodman

With the presidential election just days away, Stephen Colbert invited a few of senator Barack Obama's favorite musicians -- and fellow Chicagoans! -- onto the The Colbert Report last night to talk politics and unveil an exclusive new track.

Below, watch frontman Jeff Tweedy and Colbert discussing American flag pins, free downloads (ahem, "Socialism"), the band's long history of support for Obama, and more. And see the six-piece outfit running through "Wilco the Song," which references themselves and Colbert: "Wilco / Wilco will love you baby," Tweedy sings over a haze of ragged guitars. "Colbert / Colbert will love you baby!" Hopefully this catchy classic rock sound is a sign of things to come with Wilco's new album!
