A Beverly Hills police officer has formally alleged that one of his colleagues interacted inappropriately with the nude corpse of Whitney Houston following her accidental 2012 death. According to CNN, Brian Weir claims he faced demotions and other reprisals after reporting to his superiors that Det. Sgt. Terry Nutall purposefully exposed the singer’s body and commented, “Damn, she’s still looking good, huh?” Weir had covered Houston with a sheet after she was found drowned in a hotel bathtub with cocaine in her system.
Weir was a sergeant with the SWAT and K-9 units and the ranking patrol officer sent to the scene on February 11, the eve of the 2012 Grammy Awards. His complaint to the California labor department claims Nutall “knelt beside and leaned over the decedent, removed the sheet and/or other covering … to an area below the pubic region … and came in close proximity to touching the body … while making inappropriate comments to the effect and substance that the decedent ‘looked attractive for a woman of her age and current state.'”
In the filing, Weir says he told his superiors within the department and city government about Nutall’s alleged actions at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, and that as a result he was stripped of his sergeant status, denied promotion, denied special pay, denied training, removed from supervisory duties, lost overtime pay, and subjected to other forms of harassment within the force. His attorney Christopher Brizzolara is calling for damages both monetary and otherwise against Nutall, Police Chief David Snowden, and Capt. Tony Lee.
Nutall has since been promoted to lieutenant.
