White Stripes Prep New Single, Tab Beck; Siouxsie Unveils U.S. Tour
With a website post last week, the White Stripes incited curiosity with prospects of "an exciting new video" and "three never-before-heard original songs (with a special collaboration) and one unique new version of a song" from their latest LP, Icky Thump. And now, one week later, Jack and Meg have unveiled the specifics. The video, set to unveil Nov. 26, is for "Conquest," the third single from Icky Thump. And the "special" collaborator is Beck, who the Detroit-bred duo tapped to produce and contribute to three new B-sides, lending vocals and piano to "It's My Fault For Being Famous" and slide guitar on "Honey, We Can't Afford to Look This Cheap."
The three new B-sides -- the aforementioned tracks plus "Cash Grab Complications on the Matter" -- will arrive Dec. 18 spread across three "Conquest" singles; one black, one white and one red colored 7" vinyl. "Conquest," plus all three B-sides will also be available via an iTunes download.
Now for the video: According to a statement, "Conquest" was "shot over two days in Artesia, California" and "follows an explosive -- if unconventional -- love story that pits man against bull in the ultimate conquest." The budding actor he is, frontman Jack White trained with famed bullfighter Dennis Borba to bring a certain authenticity to the video. Though unveiling Nov. 26 on MTV, fans can download the video one day later, Nov. 27, via iTunes.
