Hear White Fence’s Paisley-Pop Prize ‘Like That’

White Fence Like That To The Recently Found Stream

On July 22, White Fence’s Tim Presley will issue another fractured collection of garage-psych tunes, but this time around he’s done away with his home-recording solitude and enlisted former SPIN cover star Ty Segall as a producer and collaborator. Today, he’s released the jangly “Like That,” the first taste from that LP, For the Recently Found Innocent. The track centers on Presley’s eerie multi-tracked falsetto, which provides a backbone for the paisley-patterned guitar lines and locomotive drum beat. Talking to Interview, Presley noted that he was “almost embarrassed to record it,” and “almost threw it away” because of its bubblegum poppiness, but this aspirational bit of driving psych-rock ranks among the most instantly memorable tracks he’s released to date.

For the Recently Found Innocent is due July 22 on Drag City, but while you wait, read our recent interview with Presley where he breaks down the motivations behind his studio debut.
