‘Weird Al’ and Patton Oswalt Team for Video Parody of Lorde’s ‘Royals’

Weird Al Lorde Royals Foil

After revealing his own inimitable versions of Pharrell’s “Happy” and Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines,” “Weird Al” Yankovic rolls out the third installment of his #8videos8days campaign for his new album, Mandatory Fun. This one, “Foil,” is a cheeky take on Lorde’s hit “Royals,” only instead of lamenting the unattainable lifestyles presented in rap videos, Yankovic exalts the many uses of aluminum foil (which, it should be noted, can be used to make one of those grills the rappers love so much). Although the clip is fewer than three minutes long, the parody king manages to cram three celebrity cameos into the proceedings: Patton Oswalt appears as a conspiratorial director, and Reno 911! stars Tom Lennon and Ben Garant swoop in at the end.
