Wayne Wraps ‘Carter IV,’ Craig Finn Solo LP + More

  • After months of delays, Lil Wayne has finally finished recording his anticipated comeback album Tha Carter IV. “It’s totally done,” Wayne tells MTV, adding that the set will drop on August 29. In the meantime, the MC is expected to put out a mixtape titled Sorry for the Wait sometime this week. One track, titled “Tunechi’s Back,” has already leaked. Check it out here. [MTV]

  • Hold Steady frontman Craig Finn has revealed that he’s recording a solo album, via his newly established Tumblr account. The singer-guitarist is cutting the disc with Mike McCarthy in Austin, TX. Finn adds that his band will begin writing their sixth album in September. [Craig Finn’s Tumblr]

  • British grime pioneer Wiley has dropped a free mixtape titled Chill Out Zone, the rapper’s quick follow-up to his latest LP 100% Publishing. Sample one of the tracks, titled “If I Could,” below, and head here to grab the mixtape.

  • Weezer and Flaming Lips will team up for two East Coast shows dubbed “Side-By-Side,” where the bands will take turns trading off songs for the entire duration of the event. The gigs will take place July 28 at Holmdel, NJ’s PNC Bank Arts Center and Uniondale, NY’s Jones Beach Theater. Yeasayer are scheduled to open, according to a press release.

  • The second track from Stephen MalkmusBeck-produced album Mirror Traffic has leaked online. Head Stereogum to stream the countrified jam “Tigers.” Mirror Traffic will be released on August 28.

  • Coheed and Cambria‘s Michael Todd has been arraigned in an Attelboro, MA, court, following his arrest for armed robbery outside Boston on July 10. A judge has raised bail from $10,000 to $25,000, citing Todd’s past criminal offenses (drug possession and reckless driving) and his out-of-state address. [The Hollywood Reporter]
