Mexican actress-turned-songwriter Ximena Sariñana’s self-titled English-language debut album gave us a refreshing jolt of indie pop in 2011 with charming assists by TV on the Radio’s Dave Sitek and Lily Allen’s secret weapon, the Bird and the Bee’s Greg Kurstin. Last week, SPIN and Chevy Sonic invited Sariñana to join us for a live-streamed performance and interview, and we’ve got the highlights here now — after chatting with SPIN’s Phoebe Reilly about making the leap from acting to recording in Mexico, Sariñana and her band powered through selections from her latest album, including its bubbly debut single, “Different.”
