After a role in last year's Edison, Justin Timberlake ups his acting chops with a co-starring role in Alpha Dog, the forthcoming drama from director Nick Cassavetes. The film, which screened at Sundance this year, is based on the true story of Jesse James Hollywood, aka Sean Michaels, one of the youngest people to ever land on the FBI's most wanted list. Emile Hirsch stars as the character based on Jesse James.

In other Timberlake news, the ex-NSYNC star's new album is on track for a fall release, and the first single should emerge this summer, according to his website. A spokesperson from Jive Records refused to comment further on Timberlake's upcoming album.
