With World Painted Blood, Slayer's new album out Nov. 3, the Huntington Park, CA, quartet tried out some new tricks -- including writing a song from the perspective of a woman for the first time ever!
During the band's co-headlining Metal Mayhem tour this summer with Marilyn Manson, the boys took a breather to discuss the inspiration, recording process, and uncharacteristic viewpoint of the cut "Beauty Through Order." Watch the SPIN.com exclusive video below.
"It's about the first known female serial killer," bassist Tom Araya says of the tune. Adds guitarist Jeff Hanneman: "I've been meaning to write a song about that for a long time. I couldn't figure out the angle, I was thinking, 'How does a woman write? I can't write like a woman I'm a guy!' Then I just figured, 'Well, she's evil; she has lots of power and killed people.' So I just started writing and the lyrics and they came out."
Slayer recorded World Painted Blood's 11 tracks earlier this year in Los Angeles with producers Greg Fidelman (Metallica, Slipknot) and Rick Rubin. The band will launch a tour of Canada and Europe in November; U.S. dates are expected.

yeah i think at the country club world sac tour. like 10ish yrs . with venom.and like angel witch or some ****. and now im old. but **** yeah. ****ing slayer ****ing slayer.... a social experiment if you yell that at any real metal show.
at least 1-20 ppl will yeall it back.. try it is awsome... also try standing up with a freind or alone and just point somewhere in the crowd se how many ppl willfollow your gesture by looking......world painted blood .cuz of all that rain. ****ing slayer

I first saw Slayer at a tiny venue back in the early 80's. I was into punk back then, and was blown away by this "thrashing" music that they had created, not to mention it was cool too!!! Over 20 years later, I saw them after I had "grown up, They were just as good, if not better, than they were back then. There are very few bands who can create and perfect a sound..Slayer not only invented Thrash metal, they perfected it!!! Metallica popularize thrash..I guess

Slayer is the band of all bands. If it were'nt for Slayer, we'd have to hear **** like 3 doors down! Thank you Slayer! You are the true kings of music, period! By the way, Metallica is no longer good. THEY SUCK!
