Following their 2011 release Simple Math, Atlanta-based alt-rock group Manchester Orchestra were looking for something different. "We wanted to make the kind of album that's missing at this time in rock," said the band's Andy Hull. "Something that's just brutal and pounding you over the head with every track; something unrelenting and unapologetic." On "Top Notch," the first single off of the band's forthcoming release COPE, due April 1 via Loma Vista, the five-piece stays true to their aim. The lead track washes out Hull's desperate croons with waves of roaring guitars over a tensely hovering bass. Watch the dark video for the release above.
