Everyone from President Obama to Katy Perry has weighed in on Kanye West’s bad behavior at the VMAs. The latest person to get laughs off Kanye’s public buffoonery? White Stripes main man Jack White.

At the Toronto International Film Festival premiere of his band’s new documentary, Under Great White Northern Lights, White jumped onstage, stole the mic from the film’s director, Emmett Malloy, and had his own jocular Kanye moment.

“I’m gonna let you finish,” said White, which quickly drew applause and laughs from the crowd. “But Orson Welles made one of the greatest films of all time!” Malloy, who also directed the Stripes’ video for “Icky Thump,” took it all in stride: “I should just go out on a high note,” he said. “Are we done?”
