Eddie Vedder’s soulful wail is tough to replicate — it’s one of the most iconic voices in rock. But Gaslight Anthem’s Brian Fallon did an excellent job Wednesday night on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, when his band covered Pearl Jam’s Singles soundtrack gem “State of Love and Trust.” Watch below.

The New Jersey punk balladeers celebrated the release of their new album, American Slang, by also playing “Boxer,” an amped up Springsteen-esque rock ballad. The Pearl Jam cover — a regular in the quartet’s live sets — was recorded as a special bonus for online audiences.

Gaslight Anthem are off to a very busy and successful year: the band — who will be playing fests all summer long — rocked Bonnaroo last weekend, and will be touring the nation into the fall, including a September 30 stop at New York’s Radio City Music Hall. Gaslight also appears in SPIN’s July issue — read an excerpt of the story and watch a live acoustic performance from frontman Fallon here.
