Watch: Behind the Scenes with the National

Brooklyn crew's clip for "Terrible Love" shows footage from the road and more.

As The National prepare to release an expanded edition of their excellent High Violet (November 22), the Brooklyn group have dropped a new video for “Terrible Love,” which is an alternate version of the original Violet track. Check it out below.

In the clip, the National show a charming, goofy side to their normally stoic, brooding personalities. The video, directed by singer Matt Berninger’s brother Tom, shows behind-the-scenes footage from their 2010 tour, from Matt goofing around in a dressing room to shots of the group at an Obama rally last month in Madison, Wisconsin. (Turns out even the National aren’t exempt from getting frisked by Secret Security.)

As SPIN previously reported, the National will reissue Violet with an extra disc of live songs, rarities, and live tracks, including unreleased song “Walk Off” and “Sin Eaters.”
