The War on Drugs Have 'Red Eyes' on 'Letterman'

Philadelphia quartet keeps on chooglin' on 'The Late Show'

Colin Joyce

The War on Drugs released their essential Lost in the Dream back in March and they haven't slowed down since. Ahead of a few festival dates and a full-scale fall tour, the Philadelphia quartet made an appearance Monday night on The Late Show With David Letterman performing a standout from that third full-length, "Red Eyes." They're in full post-Mascis slacker rock mode here, and aided by some Paul Shaffer synth work, they're able to deliver a pretty striking approximation of what appears on one of the best records of the year so far. Watch the performance above.
