Walk the Line Upsets Cash's Daughter

News

Kathy Cash, Johnny Cash's daughter from his first marriage, stormed out of a family-only screening of the new Cash biopic, Walk the Line. According to AP, Kathy was upset because of the unflattering portrayal of her mother, Cash's first wife Vivian Liberto Distin. "My mom was basically a nonentity in the entire film except for the mad little psycho who hated his career," Kathy said of the film, which stars Joaquin Phoenix as her father. "That's not true. She loved his career and was proud of him until he started taking drugs and stopped coming home." Kathy also objected to the film's portrayal of her father's family life: Walk the Line barely includes scenes about Cash's five children, nor does it show the pain his family endured during his battle with substance abuse. "Anyone who wants a good sex, drugs, and rock'n'roll movie is going to love it," Kathy said.
