Vote: Metric vs. Broken Social Scene for $100,000!
The winning band gets the cash from the Pepsi Refresh Project for their charitable cause.
Fans of seminal indie bands Broken Social Scene and Metric can vote now to elect the winner of the Pepsi Refresh SXSW Challenge. Both bands have developed charitable ideas — and the one that receives the most votes will be awarded a $100,000 grant from Pepsi to bring their idea to life.
Broken Social Scene’s idea is to support Street Kids International’s Street Works initiative, which seeks to empower kids to develop safe and productive ways to earn a living.More information on the organization can be found by visitingstreetkids.org or watching the band’s video about the cause at on SPIN.com
Metric is competing on behalf of the Women’s Funding Network.Their Pepsi Refresh idea is to help eradicate the exploitation of girls throughout the United States through an existing initiative called “A Future. Not A Past.” More information is available atwomensfundingnetwork.org
Fans can vote one of three ways:
1. At the annual SXSW Music and Media Conference which runs from March 17-20 at one of the multiple voting booths placed around the festival.
2. Submitting votes at SPIN.com/PepsiRefresh
3. Via text to “P-E-P-S-I” (73774) — text “1” for Metric or “2” for Broken Social Scene
