The View Showcase ‘Superstar’dom

Scottish quartet the View have garnered notice for their scrappy garage-pop tunes, wearing the same jeans for days, thrashing Travelodges, and denied visas (that forced them to cancel a U.S. tour and SXSW appearances), but with the latest track off debut album Hats Off to the Buskers, they might trade in their rock’n’roll reputation for good intentions.

On “Superstar Tradesman” — with brashly melodic guitars driving it forward and effervescent ooohs backing it — vocalist/guitarist Kyle Falconer careens through sincere and aww-inspiring lines, in his thick brogue, like “I don’t want money, I want a thing called happiness.” Buskers will accept donations when it drops May 8 via 1965 Records/Columbia Records.
