Black Lips Motorboat Puppets in ‘Funny’ Video

Black Lips, Funny

Last week, Black Lips grabbed our attention with their cover of T-Rex’s “Gong,” featuring none other than the Karma Chameleon himself, Boy George. Now, the flower-punks from Atlanta pull us in again with the far-out but oddly adorable video for “Funny,” via MTVu. Cole Alexander and co. find themselves at Los Angeles’ Bob Baker Marionette Theater, digging into the fuzzy, drone-kissed track from their seventh LP Underneath the Rainbow. Harlequins, puppets, and other possible hallucinations dance the night away, with Alexander, who at times wears a potato sack for a shirt. At one point, he motorboats a doll. So it’s definitely a shift from their Kimye-influenced clip for “Nightmare Field,” but, we really weren’t expecting anything less. Especially after that super NSFW “Boys in the Wood” video.
