Velvet Revolver Loads Up for Concept Album

It’s tough to be an international super group like Velvet Revolver — you have to worry about coordinating ex-Stone Temple Pilot’s frontman Scott Weiland’s rehab visits and former-G’n’R guitarist Slash’s wardrobe considerations before you even get down to recording anything. But Scott, Slash, former Guns ‘N Roses bassist Duff McKagan, drummer Matt Sorum and ex-Wasted Youth guitarist Dave Kushner have come together to record a second Velvet Revolver record, and this time around they’re making a concept album. Duff McKagan told MTV.com that the new album “really has to make a statement…the first album was just us together at home, a spontaneous product. Now it’s time to make that record.” There are no details yet about what concept Velvet Revolver will be illuminating, but it will surely be a doozy.

Frontman Scott Weiland is also looking to release a solo album sometime in ’06. He told MTV, “It’s something I’ve been wanting to do since the last STP album.” There are no set release dates for either project, but Jersey natives can catch Velvet Revolver performing on New Year’s Eve at the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, NJ. The band is playing two other east coast shows around NYE.

Velvet Revolver Tour Dates
