It's official: the speculated film adaptation of Heavier than Heaven, Charles Cross' biography on late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, is now moving forward as Universal Pictures has acquired the film's writes and hired writer to David Benioff to pen the yet-to-be screen play based on the book, Variety.com reports. The forthcoming film follows in the footsteps of numerous works on the rock deity, including the recent release of About a Son, and is the only film to have the blessing of widow Courtney Love, who will act as an executive producer.

Cake Return with 'Unlimited Sunshine' Tour

Gathering momentum from the release of B-sides and Rarities, Cake has reignited the band's 'Unlimited Sunshine' tour, tapping Brazilian Girls, Detroit Cobras, Oakley Hall, King City, and Agent Ribbons for the nationwide 14-date outing. Set to kick off Nov. 29 in San Diego, the tour will then hit cities like Los Angeles and Las Vegas before capping the West Coast leg with a show in Portland, OR, followed by a cross-country leap to Portland, ME. From there the bands will hit cities like Boston, Washington, D.C. and New York City before concluding Dec. 14 in Rochester, NY.

Swervedriver Reunite, Tour

After ventures with the Toshack Highway highway moniker, as well as recent solo offering and project alongside Interpol drummer Sam Fogarino, Setting Suns, rocker Adam Franklin will reunite with London-based shoe-gaze outfit Swervedriver for the first time in ten years. Original members Jimmy Hartridge (guitar), Steve George (bass), and Jez (drums) will join with Franklin for a world tour in 2008, marking first time together since their 1999 dissolution. Dates for the forthcoming outing have yet-to-be announced, but are expected to be unveiled as the new year approaches.

Wu-Tang Clan's RZA Wins Hip-Hop Chess Tournament
