Ultra Music Festival Spreads to Six Countries in ’12

Dance music has been making headlines all week thanks to Skrillex’s three Grammys victories, that odd rock-meets-beats performance at the ceremony, and Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl’s defense of the genre (after he inadvertently insulted it). Today comes another leap for dub-kind as organizers of the Ultra Music Festival have announced a new international festival brand, “UMF Worldwide.”

The festival, normally held exclusively in Miami, Florida, will now take place in six countries across four continents including UMF Miami (March 23-25), UMF Buenos Aires (May 5), UMF Poland (July 13 & 14), UMF Korea (August 4), UMF Ibiza (May 27 & October 7), and UMF Brazil in late 2012.

Full lineups for the newly formed international shows have yet to be announced, but we at least know that Tiësto will be dropping beats in Miami, Poland, and South Korea, while Justice are committed to Argentina as well as Miami. Other artists taking their talents to South Beach this year include Skrillex, Kraftwerk, Miike Snow, New Order, M83, AVICII, Fatboy Slim, and David Guetta, just to name a few.
