U2 have revealed that they will take a more pared-back approach to their next album: The set, which will be produced by Danger Mouse, will most likely run shorter than their last LP No Line on the Horizon. “We were trying to write an album with ‘No Line On the Horizon’ that had a kind of narrative and if I look back on it now, it’s probably too long. Maybe just by one song or two,” Bono said. “It’s incredible that people think, ‘Oh gosh I can put 17 songs on this’ … it’s like more cornflakes in a better box.” U2 just resumed their 360° Tour in South Africa; the trek returns to the U.S. on May 21 in Denver. Flaming Lips have released a new song titled “Two Blobs Fucking,” which is spread out over 12 YouTube videos and meant to be synched up and played simultaneously on iPhone-type devices. Watch their instructional video below and head to the band’s YouTube channel to get the rest of the audio clips.

Jonny Greenwood will provide the film score for We Need to Talk About Kevin, which stars Tilda Swinton and John C. Reilly. It’ll be the Radiohead guitarist’s third movie score, after crafting music for There Will Be Blood and the Japanese movie Norwegian Wood. [The Hollywood Reporter]

Pixies‘ Joey Santiago has hinted the band may record a new album, their first since 1991’s Trompe le Monde. “We’re waiting for that, like, ‘a-ha!’ moment,” he said. “I’m already there.
