U2 will let freedom ring... with their music.

On November 5, Bono and the boys head to Berlin, Germany, for yet another politically-minded gig: a free concert at the grandiose Brandenburg Gate to mark the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.

The peacemaking Irish lads' gig is part of the 2009 MTV Europe Music Awards, which also features performers from the likes of Foo Fighters, Green Day, Jay-Z, and Tokio Hotel. Tickets to U2's gig -- which will be beamed into the award show at Berlin's 02 World Arena -- are available at the band's website.

The German capitol is familiar territory for U2, who flocked to Berlin in October 1990 -- immediately following formal German reunification -- to record their seventh studio album, Achtung Baby, at Hansa Studios near the Berlin Wall.

"This year's Awards will be remembered as the night when the world's major music players came together against the backdrop of the fall of the Berlin Wall to celebrate music, freedom and the birth of a new age in Europe," Anthony Campo Dall'Orto, Executive Producer for the MTV Europe Music Awards, said in a statement.

As for American fans, well, you'll have to wait until summer 2010 to see U2, when the band's 360 World Tour returns stateside.
