Ty Segall is a multifaceted dude. The garage-punk hero put out albums last year under his own name, with Ty Segall Band, and in collaboration with White Fence; before we were through telling the world how killer those were, he came along with a new band called Fuzz.

Segall's latest incarnation, on a split charity single with fellow California psych destroyers Chad & the Meatbodies, is as a post-disco instrumental rocker. "Music for a Film 1," Ty's side of the split, sets jagged shards of electric guitar over a thickly layered rhythm section. Like the sounds of longer-running, strongly recommended San Francisco group Tussle, it evokes both the eclectic dance-music vision of Danceteria in the early '80s and the free-flowing krautrock of a decade prior.

The 7-inch — coincidentally the seventh installment in the Less Artists More Condos series — is out now on Famous Class, and 100 percent of digital proceeds go to the Ariel Panero Memorial Fund at VH1 Save the Music, a nonprofit devoted to instrumental music education in public schools. The B-side, Chad & the Meatbodies' "Mountain," is '70s-damaged stoner-rock — head-banging to follow any Segall-induced ass-shaking — and just as worthwhile.

And in case you missed our feature, Segall is pretty psyched
