Trent Reznor may be on a break with Nine Inch Nails, but he’s got his hand in plenty of other musical projects. His latest endeavor? Scoring the soundtrack to Aaron Sorkin and David Fincher’s Facebook movie The Social Network. Reznor will release the soundtrack digitally on Sept. 28 (the movie opens on Oct. 1). But readers who preorder the record will get a five-song sampler prior to that date. Head over to Reznor’s label, Null Corporation, to get more details.

This is Reznor’s first crack at a soundtrack but he’s had plenty of experience crafting atmospheric music that’s appropriate for a film, particularly with Nine Inch Nails’ 36-track instrumental release Ghosts I-IV.

“This has been an interesting new discipline for me to work in and I’m pleased with the process and the result,” Reznor said in a statement, adding that the soundtrack “really turned out great.” As SPIN previously reported, Reznor worked with longtime NIN producer-collaborator Atticus Ross on the soundtrack. “It’s really fucking good,” Reznor said of the movie back in July. “And dark!”
