‘Top of the Pops’ Replaced?

Top of the Pops will end its 42-year reign at the end of the month (read more), and already a new music-centered show is popping up to fill the void. Live from Abbey Road will begin airing in November on the U.K.’s Channel 4 and will feature performances by the Killers, the Who, Massive Attack, Richard Ashcroft, Paul Simon, Diana Ross, and LeAnn Rimes, according to the BBC. Twelve editions of the show will be shot in London’s legendary Abbey Road studios, made famous by the Beatles, and in each installment, the artist will play three songs — no host, no audience. Incidentally, as of today, Art Brut’s petition to be on an episode of Top of the Pops (read more) had 4,727 signatures, but as far as we know, they haven’t been asked on the show.
