Tilly and the Wall Tour, Play ‘Sesame Street’; Decemberists Rally for Obama in Portland

Tilly and the Wall will hit the road this summer in support of their forthcoming third album, the conceptually-titled O, out June 17 via Team Love Records. Kicking off in Salt Lake City July 2, the 26-date tour will stop into cities nationwide before wrapping with a hometown show in Omaha, NE Aug. 7. What else is up with the wacky indie-poppers, you ask?Well, turns out Tilly and the Wall, a band name, ironically, pulled from a children’s book, recently performed their own version of the “ABC Song” in a music video slated to be featured in the forthcoming 39th season of Sesame Street, set to air this fall.

Like Arcade Fire and Superchunk before them, the Decemberists are joining the fight behind Democratic candidate Barack Obama, the junior senator from Illinois. And to show their support, the quintet will perform a free concert at a rally May 18 at the Bowl at Portland, OR’s Waterfront Park in an effort to stir the minds of Rose City voters before the Oregon primary May 20.
