Three 6 Mafia Bum Rush the Oscars

A rap group who copped a plea for a pimp made history at the generally uninspiring Academy Awards on Sunday night.

Three 6 Mafia's performance of "It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp" from Hustle & Flow marked the first time a rap song was ever performed at the Oscars. Eminem could have broken the mold with "Lose Yourself," which won the Oscar for Best Original Song in 2002, but he declined to appear or perform. Instead, Three 6 Mafia earned that honor, as well as the award for Best Original Song.

In another upset, the trio may have beat ice-covered favorites like Charlize Theron and J. Lo for the title of most bling worn on the red carpet.
