Oliver Sim climbs a mountain to watch the sunrise

The video for The XX's new single "Fiction" finds the band deep in what looks like the American west, in a very nice modern house with a shimmering pool. The song itself features vocals from only Oliver Sim and so the clip focuses on him as he stalks the home in the dead of night before traversing a mountain (of sorts) while the sun rises. Much like the track itself, the Young Replicant-directed clip ends with no resolution — instead we see Sim contemplating a fractured relationship.

The British threesome are out hitting the festival circuit this summer behind last year's Essential Coexist — they'll play scattered solo dates across the country in between Governors Ball in New York this weekend and Bonnaroo the weekend after. Then they'll skip back overseas before returning to the U.S. in September. For the inside story on how the young trio went from shy lovelorn teens to in-demand stars, revisit SPIN's xx feature, "Black Is Black Is Black Is Black."
