Shins Share New Song in Zach Braff's 'Wish I Was Here' Trailer

Portland indie icons return in the long-awaited follow-up to 'Garden State'

Colin Joyce

About 10 years ago, lives were famously changed when Natalie Portman introduced Zach Braff to the Shins in Garden State. Braff's obsession with James Mercer and co. apparently hasn't waned in the intervening years, as he's chosen to use a new song by the Shins to soundtrack the trailer for his upcoming film, Wish I Was Here. The song sounds pretty typical of Mercer's work, with mellifluous vocals, lilting acoustic guitars and all, but it's hard to really tell what's going on as long as Braff is talking over top of it. We'll hear it uninterrupted once the soundtrack (which is also set to feature a new track from Bon Iver, and a collaboration between Cat Power and Chris Martin) hits shelves. Watch the trailer above.
