Watch the Replacements Rehearse ‘Favorite Thing’ in Latest Itty-Bitty Video

the replacements rehearse favorite thing in new video

We can name that tune in… three notes. In the 19-second video above, posted to Facebook Wednesday (July 3), the two members who constitute the newly reunited Replacements (Paul Westerberg and Tommy Stinson) rehearse 1984 Let It Be cut “Favorite Thing.” A previous practice clip showed the band riffing through 1987’s “Alex Chilton,” and like that even-shorter glimpse, the new preview intentionally crops the shot to exclude the drummer and guitarist. Despite an earlier, um, mix-up that Har Mar Superstar would become the legacy Minneapolis indie-punks’ lead axman, the ‘Mats haven’t yet announced who will fill the roles left vacant by estranged drummer Chris Mars and ailing Slim Dunlap, whose debilitating stroke is said to have inspired the band’s reunion.

The Replacements announced in June that they would return to the stage after a 22-year absence for Riot Fest’s three-city iteration this summer.
