The National Announce New May Album and Smartly Brooding Tour

The National New Album Tour 2013 Summer

Brooklyn-via-Cincinnati thought-rock posse the National are hitting the road for a summer tour come May, kicking things off in New York and, quite fittingly, wrapping up in Ohio. In between, they’ll be joined by Youth Lagoon for their previously reported Barclays Center show, and Dirty Projectors for a handful of gigs.

Yes, more importantly, the band is at last on target to release their sixth album and follow-up to 2010’s grittily great High Violet. So far, all that’s known about the still untitled platter is that it’s also coming in May and, like its predeccesor it’ll be out on 4AD. Most recently, we heard the National play a new song called “Lola” at All Tomorrow’s Parties U.K., and cover the ’20s standard “I’ll See You in My Dreams” for Boardwalk Empire. Also, guitarist/keyboardist Aaron Dessner produced Local Natives’ new one, Hummingbird.
