The Mars Volta may have called it quits, but like At the Drive-In before them, that doesn't mean it's all over for the band founded by Omar Rodríguez-López and Cedric Bixler-Zavala — especially since the two are collaborating once again (cross-reference all things Antemasque). As it turns out, the vinyl-loving dudes at the center of that whole prog-punk experimental-rock universe are plotting something special for their fans:

Bixler-Zavala's followers pointed out that he's likely referring to a May 20 European issue of 2003's De-Loused in the Comatorium coming courtesy of Music on Vinyl. The company's site describes their M.O. thusly: "Music On Vinyl is a vinyl only record label that releases high quality 180g LP and 7" vinyl pressings of titles licensed from a wide range of record companies and artists who control their own repertoire." Oddly, they left out the "some idiot" part.

For at least their last two albums, the Mars men have released super-deluxe vinyl versions on Omar's own Rodriguez-Lopez Productions. Presumably these reissues will get a similar treatment. Stay tuned for more info. In the meantime, whatever happened to Zavalas? Oh, and this:
