The Knife and Phoenix Plot Live Returns (Not Together)

Phoenix and the Knife

With Coachella’s 2013 lineup announcement expected any second now, we now know of two top-notch European bands that (a) are definitely touring, and (b) don’t have any shows booked during the California desert music festival’s weekends of April 12-14 and April 19-21.

Swedish electro-pop duo the Knife sent out a teaser in December for their new album, Shaking the Habitual, due April 9 on Mute. At the time, Pitchfork reported the sibling duo of Karin Dreijer Andersson and Olof Dreijer would be touring in Europe in 2013. Now the Knife have revealed the dates kick off April 29 in Milan and up May 16 back in Stockholm. No word what they might be doing between the album release and the European tour launch, but we’ll keep our fingers crossed.

Chic French pop-rockers Phoenix are also releasing an album in April, we’ve previously reported, though details are still scarce. Now we know the follow-up to 2009’s breakthrough Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix will also coincide with at least their first live show in two years. Germany’s Rock am Ring & Rock im Park festival has announced the band will perform there the weekend of June 7-9. No other dates have been announced just yet, but once again, fans can hope, right?
