Terry Gilliam to Direct Live Arcade Fire Webcast

Arcade Fire’s too-brief, 10-date North American tour is a hot ticket, but fans worldwide can watch their upcoming date at NYC’s Madison Square Garden live via Vevo — and Terry Gilliam (Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Brazil) has been tapped to direct the webcast.

The show — in support of Arcade Fire’s superb new album The Suburbs (out August 3) — will air August 5 at 10 P.M. EST, via the band’s Vevo page.

Arcade Fire’s webcast kicks off a new online concert series launched by American Express and YouTube called Unstaged. The two companies co-produced a DA Pennebaker-directed online broadcast of the National’s set at the Brooklyn Academy of Music earlier this year. John Legend and the Roots are slated for an Unstaged concert later in 2010.
