Terrific Twitter Trio of the Week: Paramore Edition!

100624-Paramore.jpg

Lots of musicians tweet – but all that Twitters is not gold.

That’s why you’ll want to check out SPIN.com every Friday to see whose tweets we’re reading this week – then update your TweetDeck! (Obligatory Self-Promotion: …while you’re at it, be sure to follow @SPINmagazine!)

This week, in honor of our July cover story, we’ve been following the tweets of @PARAMORE – and the pop-punk heroes who make the band a reality. Check ’em out, then pick up our July issue, on newsstands now:

  • Hayley Williams
    @yelyahwilliams

    Why You Should Follow: We’ve been longtime fans of Hayley Williams’ tweets – and we’re not the only ones. Paramore’s feisty, flame-haired frontwoman has more than 700,000 followers on Twitter and often gets re-tweeted by some pretty big names (including her good friends @taylorswift13 and @katyperry). Expect lots of exhausted tweets from the road (“hey kids knocking at my door… i’m really excited for the show and all tonight… but i’m still tryina sleep so… quit it”), self-deprecating humor about her size (“My punk jumps were to the moon tonight! Ok fine they weren’t that high but I’m 5’2″ gimme a break”), and typical 20-something nostalgia (“Was just thinking about how much I miss watching Doug on Nickelodeon”). Bonus points: She always gives a shout-out to whatever city the band just performed in – and makes sure to mention the fans and other acts, too!

    Best Tweet of the Week: “Told the flight attendant I was 12 so I wouldn’t have to sit in the exit row. He believed me… Then he gave me a Connect-Four travel game.”

  • Jeremy Davis
    @schzimmydeanie

    Why You Should Follow: Bassist Jeremy Davis has had his ups and downs with the other members of Paramore – he left the band while they were in the middle of recording their 2005 album All We Know is Falling, then later rejoined – but anyone who follows his tweets can tell that he really loves what he’s doing. He still gets “super stoked” about every show he plays and every fan he meets and documents his travels with the unabashed enthusiasm of a kid on Christmas morning. When he’s not tweeting “I love you”s to his girlfriend, who occasionally joins the band on the road, he’s poking fun at Hayley (“Everyone hates red heads…..”) and posting ridiculous Twitpics (like this one of the band posing with a real white tiger).

    Best Tweet of the Week: “i hate waiting to play shows…i just wanna play… soo hurry up and let us get up there pllleeeaasseee!!…met alot of cool fans here today”

  • Zac Farro
    @zacfarro

    Why You Should Follow: Even though Paramore has become an international pop-punk sensation, you’d never know it by reading drummer Zac Farro’s tweets. Though he occasionally talks about touring, performing, and recording, most of his tweets are – well, refreshingly down-to-earth and normal. He writes about waking up early (“I hate 6 am”), lusting after the iPhone 4, eating Mexican food, listening to Coldplay and the National, and shopping at Target, just like any other person. Of course, then there are the Twitpics, like this one of the Paramore boys getting pedicures, which serve as a reminder of the crazy lives these guys lead.

    Best Tweet of the Week: “Sorrow found me when I was young – the national – I agree”
