Terrific Twitter Trio of the Week

0909024-twitter.jpg

Lots of musicians tweet — but all that Twitters is not gold.

That’s why you’ll want to check out SPIN.com every Friday to see whose tweets we’re reading this week — then update your TweetDeck! (Obligatory Self-Promotion: …while you’re at it, be sure to follow @SPINmagazine!)

This week’s winners:

Who: Little Boots (@iamlittleboots)

Why You Should Follow:Music lovers and fashionistas alike need to follow this British electropop sensation, who describes herself in her bio as a “professional twit.” When she’s not live-tweeting London’s Fashion Week (while sitting in the front row of a House of Holland show with singer Estelle and model-of-the-moment Agyness Deyn, no less) or trying on glittery outfits for magazine shoots, she’s documenting her search for the perfect drum machine, getting mistaken for Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine, and traveling from airport to airport and music venue to music venue, exhausted but still raring to perform. From fashion traumas (“My mcqueen shoes fell apart!”) to studio disasters (“Feels a bit like everything is in slow motion and i’m wrapped in some kind of unpleasant cotton wool”), Little Boots tweets it all.

Best Tweet of the Week: “Shooting new video on a roof today, hope I don’t fall asleep could have dire consequences!”

Who: Semi Precious Weapons (@preciousweapons)

Why You Should Follow:The glitter-wearing members of this New York City glam rock quartet are all about the semi precious things in life — hotel parties, champagne, art, and Lady Gaga! Lead singer Justin Tranter uses the band’s Twitter page to dispense gems of wisdom (“Tanning is for strippers”), brainstorm new lyrics (“You left your panties at my feet, I put them on so you could see, I don’t like you, you don’t like me, but we like this”), boost his self-esteem (“Still can’t pay rent. Still gorgeous”), and promote his jewelry line, Fetty, and current tour with Perez Hilton and Ladyhawke. Bonus points: he posts lots of wacky Twitpics of “fabulous” priests, suggestive stage maneuvers, and the glamorous people he meets on the road!

Best Tweet of the Week: “Tit-less tranny wearing nothing but a sparkly bra in salvation army in MN. Life is good.”

Who: Gym Class Heroes’ Travis McCoy (@Travismtv)

Why You Should Follow: Gym Class Heroes’ many-tattooed frontman is currently working on his debut solo album — and in the process, introducing Ghostface Killah to vegan food, supporting underground hip-hop, beating his dog, Stitch, in fart contests, and tweeting every chance he gets! Expect lots of stories about his time in the studio, his painting classes (“Nerd alert,” he tweeted when he signed up), and his job as an MTV Staying Alive ambassador, which takes him to far-off corners of the world to educate people about safe sex and HIV prevention. Bonus points: It’s rare, but sometimes he and on-again, off-again girlfriend @katyperry exchange tweets!

Best Tweet of the Week: After VH1’s Hip Hop Honors ceremony, “I feel like I should be celebrating! I’m at the hotel watching Hook instead. I’m hip hopped the fuck out!!!”
