Tears for Fears recently broke their long silence by covering Arcade Fire's "Ready to Start" and Hot Chip's "And I Was a Boy From School." Now, the '80s pop survivors have shared a third cover targeted to the indie set: their very own version of Animal Collective's Merriweather Post Pavilion classic "My Girls."

Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith honor the ecstatic spirit of the original while coating the domestic bliss anthem in a New Wave finish. The percussion snaps, the vocals remain woozy but don't sound quite as subaquatic, and the throwback synths channel a whole new rush of color, as seen in the tribute's official music video, created by the Lionel Williams-led band Vinyl Williams. Meanwhile, Stereogum has also unveiled a new cover of "Pale Shelter," one of Tears for Fear's earliest singles, as done by Tegan and Sara with the help of Matthew Dear. According to a post on Tegan and Sara's Facebook, the former SPIN cover stars are saluting Tears for Fears to celebrate the fact that the English duo have a new album due in 2014, their first LP in 10 years (Tears' most recent LP, Everybody Loves a Happy Ending, dropped in 2004). To hear the Quin sisters and Dear decorate the 1982 track with sparkling electronics, a stomping beat, and wordless vocal riff, press the play button below.
