Taylor Swift Never, Ever, Ever Actually Read Your Letter

Thanks to a concerned Tennessee citizen and the plucky WKRN-TV news team, a few million young people’s hearts have been broken. Local Kylee Francescan was recycling newspapers in a dumpster at the Granberry Elementary School in Brentwood, an affluent suburb located south of Nashville, when she discovered hundreds of letters addressed to Taylor Swift, many of which were unopened despite generous spacklings of both stickers and sparkles.

Francescan was concerned. “I didn’t know if they were stolen [or] discarded, so I threw them in a box. And I’m like, ‘Somebody needs to let Taylor know’,” she told Channel 2 Investigates. The reporters, in turn, took the box to Swift’s label Big Machine Records on Nashville’s Music Row, but they played ignorant. A call to the strip mall that hosts the crossover start’s P.O. Box (in the city of Henderson, a full 30 miles north of Brentwood) didn’t help much either.

Finally, WKRN reached out to Swift’s handlers and learned from spokesperson Paula Erickson that, “Taylor gets thousands of fan letters everyday and they are delivered to her management office. After the letters are opened and read, they are recycled. The only explanation for any letters being unopened would be that a small batch of mail that was supposed to be delivered to Taylor was accidentally put with letters headed for the recycling center.”

They then sent someone over to collect the evidence letters, which Ms. Swift was no doubt desperate to read. As THR points out, her Myspace bio reads, “I’ve loved my fans from the very first day, but they’ve said things and done things recently that make me feel like they’re my friends — more now than ever before. I’ll never go a day without thinking about our memories together.” Yeah, so stop making her read about it already.
