Hear Tartufi’s Sidewinding Post-Rock Triumph ‘Underwater’

Tartufi

Twelve years as a band will hone your chops, that’s for sure. “Underwater,” the latest listen from San Francisco shapeshifters Tartufi should serve as a potent reminder of that. This is music about building: guitar lines pile upon guitar lines until they fully envelop Lynne Angel’s airy vocals in a focused, seven-and-a-half-minute heap of post-rock brilliance. Known to constantly change directions and shake up their lineup, the recent addition of Ben Thorpe on bass has only further fleshed out their already expansive grooves. Their latest, These Factory Days, is due next month via Southern.
