Tame Impala Accused of Stealing on Their Biggest Song

Tame Impala Plagiarism Accusation Feels Like We Only Go Backwards

Now that “Feels Like We Only Go Backwards” has cemented itself as Tame Impala’s most popular song — with an Arctic Monkeys cover and all — it only makes sense that other people are coming for a piece of the “Be Above It” band’s pie. According to a Chilean news organization, the “Backwards” melody was lifted directly from “Oceano,” a 1989 Argentinian track by one of the country’s most popular singers, Pablo Ruiz. Consequence of Sound points out that Impala’s lead singer, Kevin Parker, was only 3 when “Oceano” became popular, but the video above compares the two songs for you to judge for yourself.
