Watch Tame Impala Return to ‘Fallon’ With ‘Elephant’

Tame Impala returned to Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last night (February 18), the same show where the Australian rockers made their U.S. television debut back in August 2011. In the year-and-a-half since, frontman Kevin Parker and crew have dropped their Essential sophomore effort Lonerism, made headway with a number of side projects, and honed their live show (as witnessed on Later… With Jools Holland). For yesterday’s broadcast, the 50 Best Albums of 2012 honorees chugged and nodded along with the heavy psych-grooves of Lonerism‘s fuzz-infused lead single “Elephant.” This keyboard-colored space rock homage isn’t quite as crunky as “Giant Tortoise,” the latest from Impala offshoot Pond, but it’s an efficient exploration of the Aussies’ warped orbit. As Fallon puts it, “Boy, how you guys have grown.”
