Two years removed from their debut full-length, 2006's We Feel Safer at Night, Takka Takka have signed with Ernest Jenning Records (O'Death, Black Hollies) to release Migration, the indie rockers' sophomore full-length, due July 29.

Recorded in the band's Brooklyn 'hood, the new 10-track set features the production work of fellow Kings County resident Sean Greenhalgh, drummer for Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, as well as the musical contributions of CYHSY multi-instrumentalist Lee Sargent and the National's sticksman Bryan Devendorf. Olga Bell of Bell and Charles Burst also contribute.

And aside from expected minimalist, moody indie rock renderings, the album has a few deeper meanings. Singer/guitarist Gabe Levine explains:

"Sometimes this record is about existing in a place you don't belong. Conversely, it is about where you came from and how you got there. Sometimes this record is about my Balinese mother... Sometimes this record is about a band experimenting with sound and form, trying to honestly say things in song it has never said before. Sometimes this record is about not going back and staying in the place you don't belong."

Catch Takka Takka live this summer with a handful of summer dates, predominantly along the East Coast, including a residency at New York City's Pianos.
