Live Strokes dates have been hard to come by since the New York band's 2011 comeback — which is to say, non-existent here in the U.S., at least. We knew, of course, that Julian Casablancas and co. are gearing up for a show on these shores with an appearance at this year's Governors Ball Festival. But alas, single-day tickets for Saturday recently sold out, so all was looking glum for fans looking to catch the group's first stateside date in three years.
Now, some good news: in advance of their festival appearance, the Strokes will perform on May 31 at the Capitol Theater in Port Chester, New York, presented by Governors Ball. Tickets go on sale Friday to the general public, but there are pre-sales for the band's fan club members on Wednesday, and for festival ticket-holders and Citibank cardholders on Thursday. The main event takes place June 6 through 8. Visit the Governors Ball website for tickets for Friday and Sunday, and full three-day passes as well.
