Solange Knowles has at last unveiled her vision for Saint Records, the label that she’ll run with distribution via Sony. In May we learned that the imprint would be home to her next album — the one set to co-star Dirty Projectors, Chairlift, and Sampha — plus help spearhead a “new musical movement.” In an announcement that heralded the November 12 arrival of the 12-song Saint Heron showcase/compilation, Solange clarified her statement of intent:

“With Saint Heron I really wanted to celebrate and continue to cultivate the community for genre-defying R&B artists. I’ve personally connected with all of these extremely talented artists, and am really excited for us to come together […] as a new movement for music. I’m also looking forward to SaintHeron.com being a home for music and cultural enthusiasts like myself who want to see content that really reflects the community we are a part of.”

Indeed, while the forthcoming album will include material from Sampha, Jhene Aiko, Kelela, Sol, Cassie, Jade de laFleur, Petite Noir, Starchild, BC Kingdom, Iman Omari, India Shah, and Solange herself, the aforementioned web domain will act as an art/editorial/audio hub for those musicians and more. The site aims to be a regular source of interviews, essays, song shares, and updates relevant to said community and that community’s fans.

The news is accompanied by Saint Records’ first single: Kelela’s “Go All Night,” which appeared only in snippet form on the rising Los Angeles star’s excellent new mixtape Cut 4 Me. Stream that below, and stay tuned for more from Solange.
