Snoop Teams With Gorillaz for Woozy Stoner Jam

Snoop Dogg’s 11th album Doggumentary (out next week) may be an uneven celebration of the gangsta-turned-football coach’s all-over-the-map persona, but one track on the album is a sure standout: his collaboration with the Gorillaz’ on the spacey R&B jam “Sumthin Like This Nite” (via Some Kind of Awesome).

Of course, it’s Damon Albarn’s production that pushes the track to the next level: The Gorillaz mastermind adds all sorts of woozy, atonal synth hooks and skittering drums, plus vox-tweaked cyborg backing vocals. But Snoop, who guested on the Gorillaz album Plastic Beach, sounds perfectly at ease among all the sonic weirdness. “Slinging low, on the flo’, my hands up high, I’m full of ‘dro!” he raps in his mellow baritone.
