Snoop Lion Influences Children in Ganja-Steeped ‘La La La’ Video

Snoop Lion La La La video

Snoop Lion, formerly known as Snoop Dogg, formerly known as Snoop Doggy Dogg, whose name still seems not dissimilar to that of Charlie Brown’s Peanuts beagle, has always had an insidiously child-friendly quality about him. In the rapper-ternt-sanga’s first video under newest name, for his Major Lazer-assisted reggae debut “La La La,” he hilariously makes that connection explicit. The best part from the video, overseen by Hostel director Eli Roth, comes right at the beginning, when wide-eyed children in animal costumes banter with Snoop about the name change and whether he knows Katy Perry. But the entire crazy video is worth watching, as a deeply stoned Snoop lip-syncs, emerges from a coffin (Reincarnated, get it?!) wearing a lion pelt, and holds court over a partially animated fantasyland of red-eyed pineapples and manic bananas. At one point, a turtle rides a giraffe across the bottom of the screen, both looking like they were drawn on MS Paint. It may be for different reasons, but everyone — adults and kids — ends up smiling.
